The Black Bull is an historic 16th Century coaching inn located next to the church at the top of the village’s Main Street, and is visible from the Brontë Quarter Apartments. It is famously known as the regular haunt of Branwell Brontë (1817-1848), who frequented the inn, holding court near the fireplace from his distinctive high-backed corner chair. The Black Bull continues to operate as a pub today.
