The Old School Room was originally established as a National Church Sunday School by Patrick Brontë in 1832. It is a central piece of the Brontë Quarter, having served as a school where all four Brontë siblings – Charlotte, Emily, Anne and Branwell taught.
In 1844 the school began operating on weekdays, after Patrick secured more funding. Ten years later, in 1854, it hosted the wedding reception of Charlotte Brontë and Arthur Bell Nicholls.
The building is now a community hall.
