Situated next door, but one, from the Brontë Quarter Apartments is Haworth Old Post Office - a popular café, bar and restaurant. The building served as the village post office for most of the Brontë period, and the original counter is still inside and in use to this day. Ask to see the post drawer… you won’t be disappointed!

Established around 1834, it was one of the earliest post offices in the United Kingdom. The postmaster during the time of the Brontë family was William Hartley, a friend of Branwell Brontë. It is in this very building that the sisters posted their hand-written manuscripts and personal letters, and returned to receive news from their publishers and communication from friends.

Haworth Old Post Office offers brunch, lunch, speciality coffee and dinner; inside is decorated with a carefully curated array of historical artefacts, and the charming south-facing back courtyard garden enjoys views of the Church and Parsonage.
